Holly Tucker at Manchester Cathedral

21 Degrees Digital were lucky enough to attend a live podcast delivered by founder of Not on the High Street, Holly Tucker. The event celebrated entrepreneurism and everything small business related. Holly gave inspirational speeches to empower people to start up their own business and to love what they do while doing what they love.

The evening was incredibly insightful and everything we expected and more. The event had held at Manchester Cathedral and was beautifully decorated with motivational quotes taken from Holly’s previous podcasts. We were gifted a goodie bags that contained a tote bag, chipotle sauce, LUSH merchandise, and a card to enter a competition to win 100 minutes of mentoring with Holly herself.

The evening began with a performance from a local choir, followed by Holly sharing her top tips for starting a business. She shared her successes, but also her failures. Something which particularly resonated with us was that failure brings about the greatest success, and by failing something, it paves the way to success. We were taught that success can sometimes consist of multiple failures and never losing enthusiasm is key.

Holly then brought Mark Constantine, founder of LUSH, to the stage. Mark discussed his story of becoming the founder from LUSH and important resilience and determination are in terms of creating a business. Mark shared how he took huge risks to be where he is today, the owner of a huge business with 928 stores worldwide. His story truly hit home and inspired so many. His comment, “Why wouldn’t businesses try and be a force for good in the world?”, is something we really admired at 21 Degrees Digital as we’re all aware the incredible things LUSH is doing for the environment.

The podcast concluded with a thank you from Holly as well as some local businesses pitching their product/services to the audience. We were fortunate enough to be able to network with a number of small businesses and form new B2B relationships. Unfortunately, we were unable to speak with Holly as she was in very high-demand but this event was an incredible experience and it even gave us some insight into our upcoming podcast for 21 Degrees Digital.
